FOR THOSE I LOVE TOP SCHEME
Encompassing the frustration of a generation, For Those I Love has shared a vital and unfiltered audio-visual message with 'Top Scheme'. Following last month's seminal offering 'I Have A Love', 'Top Scheme' is a raw and anger-fuelled look at social issues in Ireland, such as sexism, classism, and the prison industrial complex. Intentionally bleak and hard to swallow, multidisciplinary artist David Balfe, isn't sugar-coating anything as each word he each word that rolls of his turn burns with years of injustice. Asking seemingly simple questions 'and how can we not feel this way when the therapy costs more than half your wage?', Balfe exposes the results of years of austerity in a flash. Providing a barrage of depressing facts and figures via the accompanying self-directed visual essay, 'Top Scheme' is a necessary listen, particularly for those in high places. -Holly Mullineaux
